Maloney and Bell removed two individually-mounted surgical lights and replaced them with new surgical lights mounted on one hub. MBI also removed a ceiling mounted microscope from the area above the original lights, and built a custom-designed shield using caulking to prevent gaps that could accumulate potentially dangerous dust.
Welding was needed above the ceiling in asbestos bearing areas, to better secure the supporting framework. The work was well planned (addressing potential OSHPD concerns in advance) so that the job could be performed very quickly – keeping non-revenue-producing time to the absolute minimum.
