Cost Control
Maloney and Bell General Contractors, Inc. of California has long
recognized the importance of maintaining close control of all job cost and
project documents. In order to be effective, a system of controls is
necessary at all phases of the project. Towards that end, Maloney and Bell
uses the Timberline Project Management & Control system.
Timberline is a fully integrated, computerized system that provides a
management tool to track documents, monitor and forecast costs, summarize
information, and provide current and accurate reports. The system is
controlled by project management personnel and accounting personnel.
With Timberline, we can input and fully track:

• Contracts
• Subcontracts
• Labor Control
• Purchase Orders
• Submittals
• Requests for Information
• Change Management
• Transmittals
• Individual punch list items
• Accounts Payable
• Billing
• Accounts Receivable
• Payroll
Timberline allows us to input and track:
• All items that may affect job costs and commitments
• Identification of items that may be a change in scope
• Complete tracking of all contract and purchase order commitments
• Information to forecast costs that affect every line item
The cost control reports provide a variety of options that allow us to
document information by Authorization or trade, and provide usable
summaries to fit both Maloney and Bell's and the Owner's needs.
